Why, sure. Cutting NASA’s budget makes *all* kinds of sense.

Note that simply the *growth* in spending in some areas (like Social Security or the Department of Labor) with worth several *years* of total NASA spending.

Most people unfortunately do not understand just how small a bite NASA gets out of the federal budget. Even people who are trying to gauge their estimate low tend to guess at least 5x-10x the actual budget percentage.

I remember what was said back in 1970 by Schultz, then Director of Budget for Nixon: “we are cutting NASA because it is in the 25 per cent of the budget that actually can be decided upon every year. We are cutting them not because they deserve it, but because we can”. And that’s all. Let’s hope the pending frontal crash between the President and the House goes so bad that next year Dems will be downsized a lot. Actually I think Obama will be a better president in his last second half of term with an adverse Congressional majority. Then, oust him for good.
