A local animal shelter will sell you an adult cat for five whole dollars. A lot of these critters are *really* hard to pass up. But I already have four, and that’s enough.

The feller below had a bit of an issue, with the result you can see if you look closely enough.

And this last one: I tried several times to get a good photo of it but it was pretty mobile. It looked a *lot* like Raedthinn reborn.

Visited an animal shelter today that had a cat room and and a bunch of dog kennels. Here’s why I prefer cats: the cats who didn’t like me? They avoided me, or simply ignored me. The dogs who didn’t like me? They would have *killed* me had they been able to do so. I don’t speak dog, but I’m pretty sure a lot of that barking would translate into something akin to “me eat your throat out” or “doghu ackbar” or something.

A room full of cats and kittens, though? A small slice of rightness in the world.

On top of everything else, a couple weeks ago my phone started acting up in a “well, it’s about time to die” sort of way. I guess I should not have been too surprised… it was five years old, which is probably about four years past the expected replacement date. So, I had to plunk down yet more money to procure a replacement (a “mid-grade” version… I sure as hell wasn’t going to blow $900 on a phone). At least the new phone’s camera seems to work pretty well.

Examples: a few photos of Buttons taken at fairly extremely close range.

Bonus photo: Banshee saw a stargate and figured that that was her chance to return to her homeworld. Alas, it was merely Hollywood trickery.

Utah is a beautiful state, but it’s a bit lacking in the “critters” department. My cats have been dumbfounded and astonished by the change in environment. Here’s Buttons looking down on some fish, a thing he’s never seen before…

That there is a “ho-le-shee-it” look if there ever was one.

A cat to be respected. Quilty reminds me of Raedthinn who also was skilled in the art of opening doors that I’d just as soon he didn’t.

‘He will not be contained’: Quilty the shelter cat put in solitary confinement after repeatedly freeing other cats

Quilty will not be contained. And he has no shame.Quilty loves to let cats out of the senior room.Repeatedly.Several…

After twenty hours of driving, spread over little more than thirty, I have arrived. My cats are upset but otherwise seem ok. My stuff sent ahead seems to be ok, but 250+ boxes of books and files will take just a little bit of a while to unravel, especially in a new and smaller space. I don’t have internet access, so this post is via my five year old phone.

So, at least so far things are about as good as could be hoped under the circumstances.

Hard to tell the difference these days, especially with public education.

As we ponder the decline and fall of western civilization driven by the dumbing down of education, here is another video, a cautionary tale  of a cat driven mad by Soviet popular music. Even though the Soviets are gone, the effects they have had – from aiding the left in the long-con of convincing westerners that science and math are racist to fomenting the anti-nuclear industry in order to trash the entire planets via carbon dioxide – continue almost unabated. Perhaps the fact that Communism, Socialism, Fascism and similar and related collectivist kleptocratic systems have been utterly discredited has only made them more powerful: too many people refuse to even consider that their PC notions aren’t really theirs, but are the result of some KGB dirty tricks division project from fifty years ago.

Things have been different out here recently. Today this involved events that caused an uproar among the cats; as a result, Fingers freaked the fark out and wound up in hiding. It took me about an hour to find her; rather than trying to pry her out I just left the house and did some stuff for few hours. When I came back, she was like this:
