This guy tells a joke, the short from of which is that learning about science in school is useless, because he didn’t become a scientist. Now it could well be that he doesn’t actually believe that; perhaps a longer video with more context has him redeem himself later. But the basic notion expressed here grates on me more than a lame joke by an unknown standup comic really aught to. It would be better by far for kids to learn about science and math and then have them not go into STEM fields, than to replace science and math with the latest trendy identity politics subjects. Because even if the kids *do* go into the fields of gender studies or LGBTQ studies or racial grievance activism… society is *worse* off. Learning math helps a kid order their mind. Learning science helps a kid learn skepticism. Learning critical race theory helps a kid become a racist monster. Learning about the latest innovation in pronoun-invention helps a kid become schizophrenic and sterile.

Minneapolis looks like… well, “fun” isn’t really the word. After Fentanyl Floyd died there, the protestors wanted less policing and that’s what they got. Look at the utopia that sprang up.

So, antiAmerican American Brittney Griner was arrested a long time ago trying to bring illegal substances into Russia. This is not really a debatable point; Griner admitted it. You can argue whether or not its appropriate that hash oil should be illegal or not, but in Russia, it is. And it’s not a profoundly stupid law, like “no wearing purple on Tuesdays” or some such; prohibitions on drugs are virtually universal though the specifics vary. I believe it’s illegal to simply transport it across state lines *within* the United States, so taking it internationally was either profoundly stupid, or profoundly arrogant in the “those laws don’t apply to me, I’m too important” form. Well, she was arrested, put on trial, convicted, sentenced to nine years and just had her appeal denied. So, sucks for her, but at least she doesn’t need to worry about being subjected to the US National Anthem for a while. So that’s nice for her.

Listen to the news piece below. One thing I’ve noticed in the coverage of Griner over the past couple years is you don’t hear her speak too often. Gee… I wonder why.

Huh.

Well, here it is…

If the current trends hold up, Republicans are likely to take over at least the House and quite possibly the Senate, too, along with many state offices. This is how democracies die, both at home and abroad.”

Translation: if the election doesn’t go my way, that means democracy has failed.

By the way, here’s failed Presidential candidate and inadequate human imposter Hillary! Clinton denying the 2024 election. It wasn;t enough that she and her ilk denied the 2016 election… now they’re denying stuff that hasn’t even happened yet:

‘Nation’s Report Card’ says math and reading scores plummeted during the pandemic, showing Covid’s devastating toll on students

Covid should not get all the blame. There is blame enough to share with the politicians and bureaucrats.

And on the subject of getting dumber:

Dallas shooter was attending birth at hospital

A guy shot and murdered two nurses. That’s bad enough, but where this goes from a news story about “crazy” and “crime” to one about “stupidity” is this:

Nestor Hernandez was granted leave to be with his “significant other” at Methodist Dallas Medical Center during her delivery Saturday, according to Texas Department of Criminal Justice spokeswoman Amanda Hernandez. She said he’d been sentenced to prison for aggravated robbery and was released on parole last October, but did not provide additional details on the circumstances of the shooting.

According to THIS STORY, in 2015 he assaulted, injured and robbed a woman, leading to a meager 8-year sentence. that means he should still be in prison, not to be released until 2023 sometime. But someone thought this absolute *winner* should be allowed out and about, and he was released on parole in October (presumably 2021, since it says “last” October). Had he still been in prison, not only would these two nurses still be alive, but there would have been no birth to attend to. Now the state will be saddled with this guys offspring, with every likelihood that the kid will end up just as bad.

Hey, here’s a thought: keep criminals locked up. Especially violent ones And more especially the ones with tattoos that proudly proclaim “I will never be a benefit to society.”

Drone footage reveals The Line megacity under construction in Saudi Arabia

“The Line” is a planned 170-kilometer long dystopian nightmare. It will cost Saudi Arabia a *vast* amount of money and will almost certainly fail; those who invest in it will lose their shirts, those who move in will come to regret it. It’s a way to punish rich morons… including the Saudi monarchy.

The Saudis *could* use their trillions in wealth to  build a space program and colonize the universe, cementing their culture as the permanently dominant form of humanity until the heat death of the universe. Instead… this.

Good.
