America is not only insane, but *terminally* insane, if we let this problem continue to fester.

Neptune in a new light! 🔵
Hubble’s view of this planet looks pretty different from @NASAWebb's new image, on the right.
That’s because these two telescopes looked at the planet in different wavelengths of light. ⬇️ pic.twitter.com/omelj0ZkDX

A Russian-occupied Crimean air base suffered a series of impressive explosions. Some claim that Ukrainians fired long range rockets (longer range than any rockets they were though to have). The Ukrainian government suggested that special forces and partisans set off a series of explosions. The Russian government said that it was just an accident with some ammo, and that nobody was injured and no aircraft were trashed. While we still don’t know for sure what happened, satellites have passed over and hoo boy, the place is a mess.
Widespread Destruction Seen After Blasts At Russian Base In Crimea
There are a number of commercial satellite photos showing a bunch of planes turned into smoking ruins.
As some have pointed out, Russia has aircraft in reserve. Apparently they think they have access to the F-18’s on the aircraft carrier USS George Bush:

Snerk.
Nice.
Watching the 47m tall Shuttle External Tank slowly tumbling in space is a little bit surreal.

The extended video is jam-packed full of shakeycam, but still worth a look.
Neato. Every object in this image, apart from the over-exposed objects with the “lens flares” (which are nearby stars) are whole galaxies billions of light years away.

Oh yeah. This is always a great sign.
If you know, you know.

So last night I went to bed after several hours of both of my blogs looking pretty badly screwed up by n SQL injection attack, and with tech support closed for the night (after having been 24/7 operations for the past twenty-something years… thanks, Covid!). Set my alarm to wake me up to have a doubtless hours-long phone call with tech support… and here we are, both blogs seem returned to normal. Huh.
Anyway, I don’t take *nearly* as many photos these days as I did when I lived in Utah. This place simply doesn’t compare on the natural beauty front. Still, every now and then there’s something that seems worth pointing the phone at, if not grabbing the actual camera.
At first it looks like anger. On closer examination, I think terror might be closer to the truth. Either would be appropriate… but the latter is more likely as that critter is faced with incomprehensible cosmic horror.
