Let Joerg show you its features:

This thing really does look like it could be produced as a viable and interesting crossbow. One thing I’d look at to simplify operations is to have the “sled” automatically released to slide forward when the string is drawn back and the trigger locked, rather than having to manually release it.

I tried to scan some documents tonight, and the results were rather disturbing. I’ve seen this sort of thing before, but now it’s *really* bad. What could cause this, and can it be fixed… or is it time to take this scanner out into the woods and use it for target practice?

Note the lines. They *should* be straight. The paper original has straight lines, and the paper itself is good and flat, so it’s clearly something in the scanner itself.

It’s important to know just what kind of modifications are possible with an AR-15:

The internets favorite suggested modification:

A chainsaw bayonet. Yup. USA Today suggested that as a serious possibility for the AR-15.

Yes, chainsaw bayonets exist. But they are not exactly practical.

And of course the ultimate in evil: never mind Communism, here’s an AR-15 with a chainsaw bayonet being bump-fired:

An interesting map of the rivers of the United States. Note the apparent dearth of rivers in a region of the US  running approximately north/south through the center of the country. Note that this is actually several hundred miles east of the Rockies.

More info and higher rez here.

Don’t blame me, I voted for McMullin.

Anti-Trump backlash fuels a Democratic sweep in Virginia and elections across the country

A lot of people voted for President Giant Middle Finger specifically because he would annoy leftists. And that’s fine, as far as it goes, but just as how Hillary annoying “deplorables” energized them into voting, now the lefties are energized into voting.

I’m always amazed when westerners get in legal trouble in certain countries. My amazement generally comes less from them having committed whatever crime it was than from them having the terrible judgement that took them to those countries in the first place. Some nations should be simply *avoided* until they enter at least the 20th century in terms of legal systems.

Yes, this $375 ‘antifa’ jacket from Barneys is actually real

Anybody who would spend $375 on this deserves to be separated from their (likely trust fund) money. I only wish it was being separated my way.

Imagine the embarrassment if two Lil Snowflakes showed up at a protest both wearing the same thing.

“Dry clean only.”

The thing I find Damned Funniest, is if you go to the actual Barney’s page, you see this:

Pre-ripped jeans, no doubt. But here’s the thing that made me larf out loud:

Our model is 6’1”/185cm and wearing a size Small.

BWAAAHAHAHAHA!!!!

I’m pretty sure any one of my cats daily eats a heartier meal than the vegan bag-o-antlers they hired to model their edgy jacket gets in a years time.

What kind of anarchists are we raising these days? Too lazy to take a sharpie and scribble their own childish mottos onto some army-navy surplus jacket stolen from a homeless bum, but somehow equipped with buckets of disposable cash.

Theoretical evidence suggests that the fusion of two quarks could be a substantially more energetic event than the fusion of two hydrogen atoms.  Two “bottom” quarks release 138 million electron volts when fused to create a nucleon, while the fusion of deuterons/tritons to produce helium nuclei average out to about 18 million electron volts.

That’s cool and all, but the problem is that the lifespan of a free-roaming bottom quark is about one picosecond, while a halflife of tritium is 12.3 years. This means you can’t actually build up any of the stuff. If you posit some near-magical advanced technology that can crank out a kilo of bottom quarks in much less than a picosecond and mash them all together, you’ve probably posited a technology that can make a bigger bang without going to the bother of fusing the quarks… just the process of turning barionic matter into a pile of quarks is probably damaging enough (imagine if the Death Star didn’t just fire a boring old laser beam, but emitted a magical field that converts the baryons that make up a planet into free quarks).

Still, it’s always interesting when science comes up with new stuff that allows science journalists to kinda freak out a bit and produce clickbaity article titles…
