Way, way, back, when I was young (and the sight of a mastodon walking the prairie wasn’t unusual), I saw one of the first F-15’s in a disassembled state being transported somewhere by truck when it came through our town.
It was finished in Air Superiority Blue camouflage, and although that paint scheme never caught on, boy, did those planes look great painted like that.
Yeah, that’s quite a nifty piece of design work, and might make a very viable alternative to buying more F-22s or F-35s as the Eagles reach their limiting airframe hours.
