Note really sure what was going on here yesterday. A heliopter was slowly making its way down the recently strung power lines along I-15 south of Tremonton, with a guy off to the side running *something* along the line. It was fairly windy at times, and the pilot was doing a dandy job of hovering in place.

  1. Checking for problems with the conductivity on either side of the in-line “what’s-it” (it may be a fuse or line splice) via some sort of inductance probe?

  2. This is serious insanity. Trying to hold a hover while the person does the work without getting into vortex ring state is a feat of skill and a work of art. Bravo Zulu!

  3. This is true insanity. trying to keep that platform stable so the person can work without getting into vortex ring state is both a feat of skill and a work of art!

  4. I remember seeing this on history channel some months ago, I do believe.

  5. Yea, sorry, kids, lots of shit I will do from or in a chopper, up to and including riding them down under fire in injun country, but ain’t no f**king way I would do that sh*t. No. Way.
