The obsession with Russian “interference with the election” seems to be leading the Dems into weird directions.  The source here is “The Young Turks,” a far-left group that named itself after the people who carried out the Armenian Genocide, so take it for what it’s worth.

Anyone Of “Russian Descent” Now Targeted In Senate Investigation

The Senate committee probing alleged Russian interference in the U.S. political system has deemed anyone “of Russian nationality or Russian descent” relevant to its investigation, according to a document obtained by TYT.

In an email dated December 19, 2017, April Doss—who serves as senior minority counsel on the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence (SSCI)—defined the scope of the committee’s inquiry as anyone a subject “knows or has reason to believe [is] of Russian nationality or descent.” The senior majority counsel for the SSCI, Vanessa Le, was cc’d on the emails.

Joe McCarthy must be smiling in his grave.

They had thought it was a simple tool they could use against President Trump. Now it has turned and started consuming them…..

2018 will be a most interesting year indeed.

I don’t get this whole Russia thing at all. How could the Russians possibly steal or even influence an election? Everyone goes into the voting booth alone and votes. The voting machines are not (yet) hooked up to the internet so they can’t be hacked. Everyone knew who Hillary was and everyone knew who The Donald was and had made up their mind long before election day. It would take someone there at the precinct to queer the results (like the Democrats themselves). Maybe this is some kind of weird double reverse whammy guilt thing because the Democrats have themselves stolen so many elections and it’s affecting what little brain they have left.

It’s pretty clear that the intent was not to install Trump as President, but instead to simply sow chaos. A month or two back something came out that there was clash somewhere in the states between a pro-Muslim group on Facebook and an anti-Muslim group on Facebook, that spilled out into people screaming at each other in the streets. But it turns out that *both* Facebook groups were started and run out of the same Russian trolling group.

You have to give ’em props for a hell of a strategy. The Russians apparently spent on the order of hundreds of thousands of dollars on trolling Facebook ads, with the result that the United States has probably blow *billions*, if not directly then certainly indirectly through wasted opportunities, on investigating and arguing and time-wasting.

The Russians, like most people, probably assumed that Hillary would win. The Russians gave not one shit about Trump, though the Kremlin disliked Hillary with a passion. Still, they assumed she’d win, so their efforts to dig up dirt on her were not for the purposes of making Trump win, but to weaken her Presidency. Imagine their surprise when Trump won.

I think most Democrats believe that the Russians did install him – no other reason makes “sense” to their worldview.

I can imagine the outrage if this had been a plot by the PRC and they were going to investigate everybody of Chinese descent…..
