It’s not a meteor over Alabama, it’s Judge Roy Bean’s candidacy for the Senate from Alabama imploding.

That’s a whole other weird story. A story filled with spelling mistakes and plot holes.

Judge Roy Moore, The Law East of the Pecos. The other guy had the Law West of the Pecos.

OK, considering dash-cameras these days are not exactly gonna cost you an arm and a leg compared to the car itself, should they not be mandatory when building a new car? And also, for people worried about privacy, I don’t think they should be mandatory to have turned on if you don’t want them to, I am just saying they should be mandatory to be there and installed in the vehicle

In general, mandatory items in cars are there to prevent accidents or to save your butt in the event of an accident. A dashcam does neither, and *arguably* could contribute to a slight increase in accidents by taking up a tiny fraction of the windshield.

It might be a good idea to have a dashcam, but I see no rationale for legally mandating them.

I’m surprised we don’t see them as an option, at least. They could be built into the rear-view mirror (so no loss in visibility) and automatically dump their contents to the cloud via OnStar or HondaLink or what have you. It could be part of their crash assurance package, where not only do they contact emergency services, they can help ascertain what sort of accident it was.

        Slept right through it.
