Pentagon Running Out of U.S. Suppliers of Energetic Materials
Down to single or no domestic sources on 181 important energetic materials. Earlier reports mentioned materials such as lead azide (used in detonators), calcium silicide (used in smoke generators, infrared decoys, explosive bolts and others), triaminotrinitrobenzene (an explosive used in plastic explosives and possibly nuclear warheads). Presumably the full list contains materials needed for explosives and rocket propellants.
