The master parts for the forthcoming Fantastic Plastic “X-15D” have been finished and shipped off for casting. Here’s a shot of the parts test-assembled, held together with tape:

When you really look at it, the design would make one helluva boost glider
for a model rocket….balsa wood or stiff cardboard maybe. It would be cool
if some independent contractor revived the real version if NASA wasn’t
interested.
You can see echos of that aircraft’s design clean up to the X-30 NASP.
You can see XB-70 Valkyrie/F-108 Rapier input in the design also.
I can hardly wait for it to arrive. I love that design. Everyone make sure to buy one (or two) and support the industry please. 🙂 You’ll not only feed the Kittys but my family of actual humans and two cats as well.
