At ridiculously long last, here’s issue V2N6. This issue is nearly 140 pages, packed with information on projects such as the ROMBUS SSTO, the Ithacus troop transport rocket, Mach 4 seaplane bombers, flying submarines and more! This issue has been broken into three separate PDF files for easier downloading.

What we have in this issue:

1) George Cully’s article on Mach 4 Convair seaplane bombers – now with additional three-views showing more design concepts

2) Convair’s flying submarine (with a great three-view and data)

3) A hugenormous article on the Douglas ROMBUS SSTO concept from 1963, and it’s ICARUS/Ithacus derivative (a suborbital transport meant to carry 1200 Marines most of the way across the planet) as well as the ICARUS jr. and Pegasus subscale versions

4) The Saab 1073 short-haul jetliner

5) Tsander’s Aerospaceplane: an aluminum prop-driven biplane design from 1924 Russia… to be capable of attaining orbit!

6) Bell’s Orbital Saucer Project by Dave Stern, showing a Bell concept for a three-man orbital logistics “saucer”

7) Part 2 of the Messerschmitt Me 328 variants article

  1. I always liked the Ithacus, where the flight crew can eject in their escape capsule in case anything goes wrong, but all the troops aboard it are going right down with the ship. 🙂

  2. Looks great! Is it on the site yet? I looked but didn’t see it yet…

  3. > I looked but didn’t see it yet…

    Ugh.

See, this is why you should only blog when it late and you’re tired IF you are also blind drunk. In my case, I was merely tired. I banged out the bare and incomplete basis for this postin g and meant to hit the “save” button so I could come back to it later, but it seems I hit the “publish” button instead. Thus an incomplete and unready posting sat there for all the world to see overnight.

Well, while I haven’t updated the APR webpage yet, I’ve added a Paypal button to the posting. The issue is ready for purchase; the website advertising it is not. So feel free to buy it from here.

  4. Is there going to be a DVD or CD version as well? As a technology Luddite, I prefer having a non-volatile copy that will survive a PC meltdown… 🙂

  5. Yes, when I get the website updated.

  6. Siergen, if you buy it downloadable, you *could* burn it to a CD yourself. Just sayin’….

  7. Again 140 page of phenomenal eARP
with never see befor picture on ROMBUS, Flying Submarines Proposal and Bell flying saucers Spacecraft !

    YOU MUST BUY THIS !

  8. Speaking of the Bell “Modified Lenticular Vehicle” (Strangely enough I happened to find my NACA report on this vehicle this weekend :)) I seem to recall seeing someone asking agout a model of this on the Secret Projects forums. I’ll drop a link to here for it…

  9. If mr. Randy would like to shar a copy of the NASA report on dinner-plate vehicle designs and mention of the bell entry may we engage in a trade or some such thing to obtain a copy? Thanks…and do use the E-Maill address to contact me if your response is positive. have a good day.
