Got these from the printer today. I currently have four, with more on the way. I haven’t measured ’em precisely, but the actual images are about 10 inches wide by about six feet long. I have the original framed and hanging on a wall, and it looks freakin’ *awesome.*

These are the same blueprints as Space Drawing 4, NASA-MSFC drawing 10M04574 of the Apollo 8 AS-503 Saturn V. But these were printed from a whole new scan (SDWG4 was created by painstakingly stitching together multiple individual scans; this new scan was a single large format full color scan).

Being so large, they were a bit pricey to get. I’m about to release a regular range of prints like this. Keep an eye out for updates. Or just bribe me to speed things along. I take bribes.

  1. Going to start launching your cats off into space? Or maybe just volunteer them to the astronaut corps as creatures capable of sitting at desks and doing nothing, since NASA no longer requires actual astronauts?

  2. …and the blueprints looked just great… right up till the moment that the cat pissed on them. 😀

  3. The cats are just doing an approval, that’s all.

  4. They look great, I have the same print I got years ago at auction. Are these actual blueprints or color copies? Can you get a black line print on vellum that could be used to create a blueprint?

I have a 1/10 X-15 drawing that lists all the panels. It’s about 30″ tall and 10′ wide. I usually hang it on a wall towards the top and I had it laminated at kinko’s so I could hang it without it tearing.

I thought the SV print was at 1/20th scale. The original drawing must have been like 3’x 20′. If you could figure out your cost to print that, it might make an interesting ebay item

  5. > Are these actual blueprints or color copies?

These are digital prints made from a high-rez scan of an actual blueprint.

    > Can you get a black line print on vellum that could be used to create a blueprint?

Not sure what you mean here.

    > I have a 1/10 X-15 drawing …

    Sounds interesting!

    > I thought the SV print was at 1/20th scale.

I believe it was. However, the blueprint I aquired is reduced in size from that. I’d love to have the full-size original, or at least a good scan of it… but at 300DPI, the full-rez image would simply crush my computer.

  6. Are you going to put these on ebay or sell them through APR?

  7. Both. Gotta kinda figure out what the right price is, though.

  8. Are bribes to be given in catnip or Pounce?

  9. […] mentioned HERE, I currently have four of the Sat V prints, with more on the way. The printed areas are about 10.5 […]

  10. shouldn’t this image be free and open to the world by now? are people really making money selling this? where is the original digital image for everybody?

  11. > are people really making money selling this?

    Not really, but I’m trying.

    > where is the original digital image for everybody?

On my computer, as I bought the original blueprint and paid to have it scanned. If you want the print yourself, you may buy a copy from me.

  12. Ok… surprised no one else reached for it first, but…

I take it these were done by cat scan?
