A & E Engineering
Current Projects
A & E Engineering has several projects in work, funded both as contracts with outside sources and as IR & D out of our own pockets.
Small aerospike: A & E Engineering is current working a contract to design to the component level a small, relatively inexpensive linear aerospike rocket engine. This engine is being designed to be sturdy and modular to allow for considerable experimentation.
Flight models: A & E Engineering is working on several fiberglass models (1/12 Bachem Natter, 1/24 X-38, 1/24 X-20) to serve as high-power model rocket boost gliders for commercial sale.
Modular Low-Cost Reusable Launcher: studies are underway to design a series of low-cost reusable rocket powered vehicles that will lead to reusable space launch vehicles. The advantage of our approach (as opposed to just about everyone else in the RLV field) is that we do not need to build a large vehicle capable of orbiting a large payload (at a development cost of several hundred million dollars) as our first product. A smaller, suborbital vehicle can be evolved into a larger orbital vehicle, with only one percent or so the initial startup funding that the full-size vehicle would need. Investment will be sought.
Several proprietary rocket engines of varied types and sizes are under design, ranging from monopropellant rockets for the high-power model rocket community to hybrid rocket engines suitable for upper stages and large sounding rockets to large booster engines.
